Farewell London! Hello Paris!

Sorry it's been so long since our last post, the last week has been so busy! I'm sitting in a Parisian internet cafe typing with a keyboard that isn't qwerty, it's azerty...and it's really difficult! So if every now and then you cant read what I've written, that's why!

Our last couple of days in London were really lovely. We met up with Dan and drank delicious pear cider in Soho Square. A toothless, homeless French man approached us while we were there and wanted to swap clothes with Dan (who wouldn't?) and then wouldn't go away and kept saying "Do you think I'm crazy? Do you? Well I am! I live in cuckoo land!" ... We later decided that he wasn't French, he was just very drunk. Great guy.

We paid a visit to The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace to go to the 'Victoria and Albert: Art & Love' exhibition. It was fabulous. The exhibition was made up of official royal portraits and various pieces of art that Victoria and Albert had exchanged as gifts.

My favourite portrait was this gorgeous one of Albert, because he was such a looker...

Such a dashing man...

After strolling around The Gallery we caught the tube out to Kew Gardens, the royal botanic gardens in London. They, like everything else in London, were amazing. 121 hectares of immaculate lawns, giant trees, glass houses, ponds and, of course, flowers. Flowers everywhere! Just like these...

There was also a waterlily pond...it doesn't compare to the one I saw yesterday, but at the time I thought it was pretty cool...

A treetop walkway...

A glass house that had plants from every continent in it...

And this bin...

We also spent a day at the worlds second largest street party - The Notting Hill Carnival! It was pretty cool. It's basically I giant parade of scantily clad, feathered people.

There are soundsystems everywhere with giant crowds just dancing in the streets and food stalls all over the place. I got goat curry, Bron got jerk chicken...and no, I don't know what jerk chicken is - but apparently it was tasty. We also drank some Jamaican lager...it wasn't great.

But the coolest thing by far about our day was that even though there were about a million people (actually!) packed onto the streets we happened to run into Dan and Sam. You just cant escape Canberra...but who would want to when you have friends like ours?

I cant be bothered to write about Paris right now on this stupid keyboard, so keep an eye out for my next post!

Love!

  1. Dan and Sam! Canberra is a small world, anywhere in the world.
